Do you feel comfortable with silence? Are you able to relax into a peaceful state and be calm in a silent room? We are going to be talking about silence today on the Spiritual American. We Americans enjoy a wonderful and powerful way of life, but internally and in relationships we may wish for better. Join me as we look beneath the surface and gain insights to transform every aspect of your life. My name is Dr. Ann O'Hare, and this is the Spiritual American. Welcome back everyone. Today we're going to be talking about silence. I'm only gonna be speaking for a few minutes and then we will do a meditation together. I just want to recognize that silence is, in spirituality, maybe we have a different definition of silence. One definition of silence is no sound right, no vibrational sound coming in through the ears, through the senses, but silence internally. What is silence? Internal silence. I would say that internal silence is, has peace, stillness. No thinking or very few thoughts and very light, very positive, very gentle, full of feelings, thoughts. Think about when we're sitting in nature, if we're having a positive experience in nature. There are sounds happening, but I'm not disturbed inside if I'm able to relax into this environment. Many people say that in nature, they tend to feel peaceful, they feel connected, they feel calm, wondering if it's really the environment that makes you feel that way, or are you actually just getting in touch with your nature, your inner nature? The title of today's episode is Loving Silence, and I guess it's really loving myself because all of those experiences and qualities are innately in me, in I the soul. I briefly wanna touch on a couple of things. The habits that we have right now. We have a lot of external stimuli that we're using. Music internet. We know all the different kinds of internet that we're looking at. Screens, looking at screens. And then when we're not looking at screens, maybe there's a lot of mental activity that takes over for the senses. So even if I'm sitting still, the mind can still be going. So how do I get in touch with that like nature, that kind of harmonious silence inside. Things are still there, but I feel they're not disturbing. I'm gonna call that silence. The silence of the natural self. How do I get in touch with that? Well, I need to bring my attention inward and I need to tell myself something about who I am. So I am a soul, and my nature is peace. I am the living consciousness, and I'm a loving, caring, beautiful, pure, wise, happy being. If I can say that to myself and I allow myself to feel that, then I'm experiencing a kind of closed system within myself, and I'm gonna call that silence today, where I'm only experiencing my natural qualities. This is why we do meditation, and in my experience, this meditation works whereas other ones didn't work. Meaning that I was able to keep going with it and actually feel like I was making progress. This one works because it's about me. It's about who I am, the essence of who I am, and actually it's not just me, it's everyone. All of us are souls. We're all souls, and all of us, our original nature is peace. Nature kind of gives us a clue as to how things can be moving and happening and still be kind of silent. You can feel the silence, even though there's birds tweeting and there's maybe water sounds or there's still a silence there. There's a stability and a beauty and a harmony. We have that inside us. We respond to that because it's already there. So before we go into the meditation, just think about that for a second. Do I believe that? Is that something that I'd like to explore? The silence of being just inside of me. With No other sound, no other experience, no other outward attention, and being able to open myself up to loving that experience. Sometimes it's not about sound or no sound. Sometimes it's about outward activity and attention versus inward stillness and attention. I'm calling inward stillness and attention silence today. So let's try So sitting quietly, relax the body. Become aware of your breath. Bring in a nice, gentle, deep breath, and exhale. Gently bring your attention to the center of the forehead and imagine a tiny point of sparkling light. Like a star in the center of the forehead. The star is me, the soul. I am the soul. I am the living consciousness that is using this body to express myself and play my part in the world. And my nature is peace. So let yourself feel the peace. Let yourself create an energetic distance between everything else and you right now. The only thing that exists is me. I am a soul. I exist. I am still. I have a whole part inside of me. I have unlimited potential inside of me. My nature is harmony. I am filled with love and generous, pure feelings that are radiating from me. I allow myself to feel fully contained and nourished in this awareness. Feelings of peace and rest and contentment. I'm fully contained like a hug. For my awareness, I'm fully held and contained in this awareness of myself. That is the silence. It's just me. I am peace. I am gentleness. I have great, great love for the world. I exist. These peaceful vibrations are permeating and nourishing the body and radiating from me, But for me, I am absolutely still absolutely quiet and full, content, just being me. Give myself a moment of absolute silence. Okay, prepare to return to ordinary awareness. Take a deep breath, bring your attention back to the body, move the body a little bit. Bring your energy up into the face, into the eyes, into the senses. Little more active energy, and we are back. This is meditation. There's a lot of things that we can do in meditation. This is one of them. Experiencing the silence of just being me. I highly recommend that you check out the description. There's meditation there. There's online classes. This practice has transformational impact on the way I feel about myself, the way I behave, the way my relationships go, and my self-respect that I can actually be proud of myself because I'm spending my time and my energy and my attention. In a worthwhile way for me and for everyone. So I will leave it there. I hope that you're intrigued and that you would like to try this, and so until next time, our slogan is Heal, empower, and Serve. Take Care.
